Indian Navy Chief, Admiral Karambir Singh was received by Vice Admiral Michael Noonan, Chief of Navy, Australia with the tri-service Guard of Honour on Monday.
On Monday, Admiral Singh met Rear Admiral Lee Goddard, Commander Maritime Border Command, Australia and the two discussed issues of cooperation between Australia and India.

Admiral Singh also visited Australian War Memorial and Museum at Canberra.
The defence cooperation between Australia and India is at an all-time high following the 2006 Memorandum on Defence Cooperation and the 2009 Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation.

Australia and India also signed a Framework for Security Cooperation agreement in 2014.
Since then the two defence forces have interacted regularly through war exercises and frequent visits.
Indian Navy and Royal Australian Navy are partners in the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), which is a maritime cooperation construct conceptualised by Indian Navy in 2008. Both the navies are also co-chairs for the IONS Working Group on Information Sharing and Inter-operability, for which the inaugural meeting was hosted by Australia in June 2019.
Earlier this year Indian and Australian navies participated in the largest ever naval exercise in the Bay of Bengal.
In 2017, an all-women Indian Navy crew was warmly received when their boat INSV Tarini arrived at Fremantle port on 23 October 2017 during its maiden voyage to circumnavigate the globe.
