An Indian-origin cricketer, who lived in Dunedin, New Zealand has suddenly died during a game at the weekend.
33-year-old Hareesh Gangadharan was playing for his Green Island club team at Sunnyvale in New Zealand on Saturday when he collapsed on the field.
The team had played about 10 overs when Hareesh, who had bowled two overs, sat down and complained of shortness of breath before losing consciousness.

Despite frantic efforts of players and emergency services, he could not be revived and died on the field.
“I am heartbroken to confirm the news of the very sudden death of our Green Island Cricket Club member while playing yesterday at Sunnyvale. Hareesh Gangadharan suffered a medical event and despite all efforts by teammates, the public and emergency services he could not be saved,” John Moyle, President of the club said.
“On behalf of the Green Island Cricket Club, we offer our sincere condolences to his wife and family.”
Hareesh is survived by his wife Nisha Hareesh and their 3-year-old daughter Gowri.
Friends and family told NZ Herald he did not have any pre-existing conditions and were at a loss to explain what happened.
Originally from Kochi (Cochin) Kerala, Hareesh arrived in New Zealand about five years ago after his marriage to his wife, who was already in the country.
The family is now preparing to repatriate his mortal remains to India.
