Indian shooters have done the country proud at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup in Sydney.
The first victory at the competition was registered by 18-year-old Elavenil Valarivan Elavenil of India who pocketed the 10m Air Rifle Women Junior gold in Sydney on March 22nd.
Elavenil, Khitta and Agrawal also climbed atop the team podium taking gold in 10m Air Rifle Women.
Her victory was followed by 16-year-old shooter Manu Bhaker prevailing over Thailand’s Kanyakorn Hirunphoem at the very last shot, securing India’s second individual gold in 10m Air Pistol Women Junior on Saturday.
Victory continued for the Indian side this week.
15-year-old Anish Anish of India won the third individual gold for men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Junior event on Monday.
On the team podium, Zhang, Cheng and Pan secured the gold, while India’s Anish, Jawanda and Adarsh Singh took silver. The bronze medal was awarded to a second Indian team, composed by Sandhu, Japtyesh Singh Jaspal and Mandeep Singh.
India’s 19-year-old Anmol Anmol and 16-year-old Manu Bhaker climbed atop the podium and took India’s seventh gold medal in the Final 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Junior.
16-year-old Muskan Muskan bagged India’s fourth individual gold in Sydney for 25m Pistol Women Junior on Wednesday.
The top of the team podium was taken by India’s Bhaker, Muskan and Devanshi Rana, while their country-mates Gaur, Mahima Turhi Agrawal and Tanu Rawal secured silver. Thailand’s Hirunphoem, Viramon Kidarn and Luxciga Srinitivoravong placed 3rd.
The International Shooting Sport Federation, also known with the acronym ISSF, is the governing body of the Olympic Shooting events in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines, and of several non-Olympic Shooting sport events.
The ISSF season will resume next month with the ISSF World Cup Stage 2, taking place in Changwon (KOR) from April 20th to April 30th.
