Jasbinder Singh who lives in Papatoetoe, in south Auckland spoke to his friend on Saturday at 7.05 pm.
“He said he was at a train station and would be back in an hour. But he never arrived back. His phone went off, and there was no activity on social media too,” Jasbinder’s brother Jasbir Singh told SBS Hindi from Auckland.
Jasbir Singh lives in Sydney. He flew to New Zealand and reported his brother missing, but he says he is not happy with the way police are conducting the search.
“The police are very slow. They have not been able to find the last location of his phone yet,” Jasbir said.
Jasbir and Jasbinder hail from Hoshiarpur district of Punjab in India. Jasbir arrived in Australia 10 years ago. Jasbinder came to New Zealand four years ago to study. He has been studying IT at Unitec in Auckland.
“Jasbinder is always in touch with our mother. My mother speaks to him every day. I have not told her anything yet,” Jasbir said.
Jasbir has posted a missing person's poster at a nearby Sikh temple. He is trying to spread the word on social media. He has also contacted the High Commission of India based in Wellington to seek further help.
