Syed Abdul Raheem Fahad died in a road accident. His car was allegedly hit by a drunk driver in central Auckland, New Zealand Herald reported.

The accident happened on Saturday morning when a black Mercedes, driven by a 20-year-old man, hit Fahad’s car at a traffic light.

Radio NZ reported that the driver of the Mercedes has been charged with excess breath alcohol causing injury and failing to stop after the accident.
Detective Inspector Scott Beard said it appeared the crash occurred after the Mercedes ran a red light, but police were reviewing CCTV footage to confirm that, according to Radio NZ.

Fahad’s wife Nishat Abedi told the Herald that he started work about midnight on Friday after feeding and putting their 5-month-old son to bed.

“For me, everything is numb. I have many things in my heart. He was my whole world,” Nishat Abedi was quoted saying by the Herald.

The couple moved to New Zealand in 2014 from Hyderabad in India. Their family lives in Chanchalguda area in Hyderabad. According to Indian TV Chanel NDTV, the family has appealed to India’s Minister of External Affairs Ms. Sushma Swaraj for help bring Fahad’s body back.
