Man found unconscious in Tarneit identified

Police say the circumstances of how the man became unconscious are unclear and officers from Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the matter.

Victoria Police have identified the man who was found unconscious in Tarneit, Melbourne’s West in early hours of Monday.

The man who is perceived to be Indian in appearance was found by a passer-by at around 2:55 am on Monday before being taken to hospital.

Victoria Police officers had appealed for help to identify the man who is in critical condition.

On Tuesday, the man’s family came forward and identified him.

It is now known that he is a 40-year-old man from Werribee.

‘His family have now come forward,’ Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives said in a release.

‘The circumstances surrounding the man’s condition are still unknown however are not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

‘Police would like to thank members of the public and media for their assistance.’
