Meet Ishita Katyal, a 10-year-old girl from Pune who is making headlines world over.

At a young age of 8, she wrote a book. At 10, she became the youngest license holder of organising a TEDx Youth Conference in Asia Pacific region and a few months ago, she also delivered a TEDx talk on ‘What do you want to be now?’ in New York.

This little girl is full of energy when it comes to sharing her outlook on life. Student at Pune’s Vibgyor High, Ishita in her talk in New York spoke about Kids and their dreams and capabilities.

Ishita as a child was often asked the question: what do you want to be when you grow up?

She didn’t like the notion that one can achieve something only when one grows up. At the young age of seven, she attended a TEDx talk and though she couldn’t “quite understand what the talks were all about… stories and experiences they shared on stage sparked her curiosity.” She was impressed and came back home “with a head full of ideas, dreams and role models.”

That’s how she came up with her first TEDx talk at a TEDx event at Bhilwara on ‘Why You Don’t Have to Wait Till You Grow Up.’

This video has been watched by over 174,000 people on YouTube. She also organized a TEDx talk in her school. And meanwhile, when the opportunity of speaking in New York knocked her doors, she was delighted.

Her mother Nancy Katyal told Indian Express, “She is very clear about what she wants. She didn’t hesitate for even a second. The whole trip was sponsored by TEDx. At the main event, when she stood on the stage to speak, I felt nervous because she was the youngest and had to speak without holding any paper in her hand. But she spoke well.”

Ishita loves to read and write in her spare time. She authored a book titled Simran's Diary when she was merely 8. She is a voracious reader; her favorite authors being Enid Blyton and Ruskin Bond. And she also plays basketball.
