23-year-old Wawan Pradiat filmed his next-door neighbours in their intimate moments and then uploaded the video to a porn site.

The incident occurred in November last year. The couple’s friend found the footage online and informed them about it, the court was told. They went to police and Pradiat was arrested after police searched his laptop.

Pradiat, who arrived from Indonesia three years ago on 457 Visa, told police in last November that he did not know what he was doing was illegal. He claimed that the videos were uploaded to the porn sites, accidentally.

But police searched his laptop and found four other videos of his female housemates in the shower.

Magistrate Christopher Halburd said, “That's why this legislation is there. So people are not subjected to people like you.”
Pradiat, a chef by profession, has been jailed for eight months. He will be eligible for parole in six weeks.

He faces deportation after his release. His lawyer Jae Park told Seven News, “It is a matter for the immigration department to determine. So I do not know. I cannot say anything at this stage.”

The immigration department will decide about his deportation upon his release, the Seven News reported.
