No Australian has applied for the job despite being widely publicised, the Couriermail.com.au reported. Although many immigrants from India, Middle East and the Philippines have applied.
A requirement for ‘Senior Daily Farm Hand’ is posted on websites like Seek. An advertisement is published in the local newspaper, The Cairns Post.
The role requires assisting an old farm-owner in managing a 300 cow farm in Malanda, 90 kilometres south of Cairns. The ideal candidate, according to the advertisement, will have a certificate 3 in Agriculture or 2 years of experience in a similar role.

Malcolm McGregor, the farm-owner told the Courier Mail they are ‘desperate’ to hire a local, but they have only received applicants from non-Australians.
“It's frustrating and makes you really angry,' Jane McGregor, wife of Malcolm told the Courier Mail.
“Malcolm works seven days a week...he only sees the kids for a couple of hours a week. We just need someone who could be Malcolm's 2IC so we can have a break,” Mrs McGregor was quoted saying.
However, it is not explained why the farm-owner wants to hire a local.
But it seems, in Cairns where the youth unemployment rate is 14.5 percent; the locals are not interested in the opportunity.
Local MP Warren Entsch told the Daily Mail he knows someone who rejected the job because the person was only getting $200 more than what he was receiving from the government as social support.
Although, one Karen Cairns has expressed her interest in the opportunity on Twitter. She tweeted, "I would love this job. The downside would be the commute. I live in Gloucestershire."
