Director - Anurag Kashyap
Star cast - Jimmy Shergill, Ravi Kishan, Vineet Kumar Singh, Zoya Hussain
Ratings - 3.5 / 5
Story originally written by Vineet Kumar Singh and modified by Anurag Kashyap and 4 other writers, Mukkabaaz is based on a true life incident. It shows the true colour of a sport in a country where politics has an upper hand always.
Shravan ( Vineet Kumar Singh ) wants to be a successful boxer but his coach Bhagwan das Mishra ( Jimmy Shergill ) has a different way of training his boxers to which Shravan revolts. And at the same time falls in love with Bhagwan's cousin Sunaina ( Zoya Hussain ). Bhagwan Dass wants to destroy Shravan and Shravan makes it a point to marry his love and to make a name in boxing.
Its a story of love, passion, struggle and determination. You will laugh, cry and feel an urge to hit the gym and pump a muscle while watching the film.
The first half is little slow with few cliches like girl's father asking the boy to be settled first etc but it's the second half that packs a punch with a gripping story, realistic action and boxing matches. It's a typical Anurag Kashyap film where music compliments the story.
A ripped and chiselled body of Vineet is a witness of his hard work. Ravi Kishan and Zoya Hussain perform well too but it's Jimmy Shergill who is the surprise package. You will hate him as Bhagwan Dass Mishra.
