At least four people have been reported dead in India due to Cyclone Nisarg which caused heavy rains and strong winds along the west coast.
Highlights:
- Cyclone Nisarga made landfall in the coastal districts of Maharashtra on Wednesday afternoon.
- Heavy rainfall accompanied winds gusting up to 70kmph caused damage to life and property.

Mumbai, the financial capital of India, received rainfall between 25mm and 50mm on Thursday morning, according to the Meteorological Department of India.

However, the department said, the cyclone was weakened and changed its course.
“The deep depression weakened into a depression over west Vidarbha (Maharashtra) this morning at 0530 IST of
4th June, to move east-northeastwards and weaken into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area (WML) by today evening,” the IMD tweeted.

The southern districts of Gujarat were impacted with light showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds but, the rest of the state remained dry except for light showers at a few places.
