The police have recovered 53 mobile phones worth Rs 6.50 lakh, according to the Hindustan Times.

The three accused, living in Mumbai, have been working as loaders at the airport for over two years. The trio used to steal mobile phones ordered online, coming for delivery from Bangalore, according to the police.

The incident came into view after a complaint was filed with the airport police station by a courier firm which is responsible for transporting mobile phones from Bangalore to Mumbai.

“Several mobile phones went missing between the cargo and warehouse following which around 30 people were picked up for questioning,” police inspector Srimant Shinde told the Hindustan Times.

“They had figured out the kind of package in which the phones were sent…. Every time the accused would remove some of the mobile phones…. This must have gone on for the past year,” said senior inspector S Shinde.
