The Sydney Science festival concluded recently and there were many Indian-Australian scientists who took part in this event. We invited two young and upcoming scientists who were part of this festival, Anirban Ghose from UNSW and Navpreet Kaur Walia from UTS who shared their journeys with us.

Anirban Ghose, who is an engineer, works at the 'Microfactories' project at the SMaRT Centre at UNSW. He is working with other researchers on plastic waste, and the design of the 'microfactories' which includes automation, robotics, and machine side of the project.

Navpreet Kaur Walia is a PhD student at UTS and is working on 'Optimisation of strain and culture conditions of the microalga, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, for recombinant protein production from nuclear transgenes.'

Both their areas of work could potentially have siginificant practical applications.
