The five-dollar note has been given a colourful makeover as part of the next generation of Australian banknotes.

A top-to-bottom clear window adorned with yellow Prickly Moses wattle and a striking Eastern Spinebill bird are the main design additions revealed by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), with images of Parliament House and Queen Elizabeth II still dominating the fiver.
The new note will come into circulation from September 1st with a new tactile feature that helps vision-impaired people distinguish between the different denominations. This new note also comes with security features that make it harder to counterfeit, the RBA said on Tuesday.
But not everyone is impressed. Clearly, not the twitterati, who have called the new design ‘vomit-like’ and ‘hideous’.

Take a look at some hilarious and scathing tweets on the new $5 bill.
