The police had arrested London-based Arti Dhir last year after an Interpol alert. 52-year-old Dhir is accused of kidnapping and killing an orphan boy from Gujarat.

52-year-old Dhir appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Monday for a hearing on her bail, Indian news agency PTI reported.

Gujarat Police claims that Dhir and two other accused – Nitish Mund and Kanwal jit Raizada – hatched a plot to kill a boy. The plan, according to the police, was to adopt and insure the orphan boy for around Rs. 1.3 crores before staging his kidnapping and murder.

Dhir used to work at Heathrow Airport in London. She had allegedly met Mund and Raizada in London where the two were studying. The police allege the trio hatched a plan to split the insurance money three ways in 2015.

The boy and his relative were stabbed to death in Rajkot in February 2017. Local police contacted Interpol and ‘red notice’ was issued for Dhir in April last year. Scotland Yard arrested her in June 2017.

Her extradition hearing is scheduled at Westminster Magistrates' Court for April 30.
