NRIs sent US$235 billion in three and half years to India

The Minister put the figure of overseas Indians at 3.08 crores who are spread over 208 countries.

India received a massive US$235 billion in remittances in the last three-and-a-half years.

The details about the remittances received by India were given by Minister of State for External Affairs Gen. (Retd.) V. K. Singh.

Gen. (Retd.) Singh was replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

As per government data, in 2013-14, India received US$69.64 billion in remittances.

The figure in 2014-15 was US$69.82 billion and US$65.60 billion in 2015-16.

While the volume of remittances in the first 6 months of the current fiscal year was US$30.43 billion.
