An Origin Cricket Cup Competition Awards Night was held this weekend in Sydney to recognise young Multicultural players, volunteers, umpires and sponsors. This venture has been organised specifically to encourage and provide training to talented young cricket players from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds.
There are 18 such teams that play at the Blacktown International Stadium. Five of these young cricketers were selected earlier this year to be trained by Cricket NSW.

Present at the Awards Night were the High Commissioner of Bangladesh His Excellency Kazi Imtiaz Hossain, and the High Commissioner of Fiji His Excellency Yogesh Punja, Hon. Tony Burke Shadow Minister for Shadow Minister for the Arts, for Environment and Water, and for Citizenship and Multicultural Australia., Hon Matt Thistlethwaite and Senator Sam Dastyari who highlighted how tournaments like these help build harmony and gain respect.

Present among the Special Guests was popular young cricket player Gurinder Sandhu who was interviewed on stage by Navnit Ananad. Aisha Amjad who is the Cricket Australia Community Ambassador and recently appointed Walk for Respect Ambassador as well managed the show.
