In the early hours of this morning the Patna- Indore Express train travelling from Indore towards the capital of Bihar Patna got derailed. As we publish this report it is feared that at least 90 passengers have died and the toll is rising, more than 150 have been injured. The incident took place 100 kms from Kanpur around 3:00 am IST.
About 14 of the carriages of the train got derailed with four carriages being greatly destroyed. Rescue workers and Medical staff have come to the aid of the passengers and are helping to pull survivors out of the debris. The more seriously injured have been moved to hospitals in Kanpur.
The immediate cause of the derailment remains unclear but the Rail Ministry is investigating the matter. prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed sorrow over the incident spoken to the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu who is personally looking into this incident.
