Australian Marathon runner, Pat Farmer reached the northern Indian state of Punjab on Mar 17th.

The world-record marathoner started his Spirit Of India campaign on January 26th from Kanyakumari and is expected to conclude in two weeks in Srinagar, Kashmir.
Running from south to north in his quest to experience the real ‘spirit’ of India, Farmer reached Amritsar on March 21st after visiting Chandigarh and Ludhiana in Punjab.
He ran for almost 12 hours – leaving early morning at 5am and arriving in Amritsar at 4.30pm.
A visit to Amritsar is never complete without visiting the Golden Temple (Harminder Sahib) and Pat Farmer did just that. He was keen to volunteer at the langar organised at the Golden Temple and participated not just in the kitchen but also queued up to serve people in langar.

The gorgeous Golden Temple serves over 1,00,000 meals everyday. Considered the most holy temple for the Sikhs across the world, this kitchen is the biggest in the world serving free meals for the community irrespective of creed, caste or religion.

Pat Farmer along with his wife Tania Farmer and the crew accompanying him paid his obeisance at the Golden Temple before leaving for his next destination.
