Victoria Police are looking for two men perceived to be 'of Indian or subcontinental appearance' in relation to a sexual assault on a woman in Melbourne.

Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have appealed for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in the Melbourne CBD in July.

The woman was in Melbourne's CBD on July 29th for a night out with friends when she was approached by two men who said they were in a ‘ride-share’ vehicle.

The woman was in the CBD between 11 pm and 3 am, walking and catching public transport when she walked past a vehicle under Queens Bridge about 3.30am.
It is there that police believe she was approached by two men in a vehicle.

The victim got into the car and was then driven to Albert Park, where she was sexually assaulted.

She managed to get out of the car and contacted police after punching one of the offenders in the face.

Over the past months, detectives have gone through hundreds of hours of CCTV footage in an attempt to track the woman’s movements through the CBD.
The two men are perceived to be of Indian or sub-continental appearance and aged between 25 and 35-years-old, police said in a statement.

The vehicle involved is believed to be silver, mid-2000s model Toyota Yaris hatch.

Investigators have released CCTV of the car on the night, as well as an image of a similar vehicle, in the hope that someone may be able to assist in identifying the men.

Detectives have also released CCTV images of a man they are hoping to identify who they believe had spoken to the victim earlier in the night. He is believed to be a witness only and not involved in the incident.
