Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives have released images of a man in relation to a sexual assault on a woman in June.

A 20-year-old woman was waiting outside the Swanston Street Library on Saturday, June 27 around 6.30 pm where an unknown man approached her.

He allegedly struck up a conversation, offered a massage before sexually assaulting her and leaving the scene.

The man allegedly told the woman he needed to catch a train from Melbourne Central Railway Station.

‘The man is perceived to be of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, aged in his mid-20s to early 30s with a solid build, brown or black curly hair and dark coloured eyes,’ Victoria Police said in a statement.

‘He was wearing a red hooded jumper, dark pants, light-coloured sneakers and a watch at the time.’

Detectives have released images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

Anyone who recognises the man or with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
