Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Police have warned that counterfeit money has been in circulation throughout Canberra in recent months.
Canberrans have been warned to keep an eye out for the counterfeit cash after police came tp know through more than 35 businesses over the past two months about the counterfeit $50 notes.

ACT Police said when a $50 note is held up to a light, a seven-pointed star within a circle is formed by four points on one side of the banknote, combining perfectly with three points on the other side.
Counterfeit banknotes are usually of poor quality and appear to be of different material, and police said it was worthwhile for the public to check their notes.
