The Premier sighted the Gurudwara Sahib and was advised about the various activities of the Sikh Temple. Thereafter, she participated in a conference with representatives of the Sikh community.
The secretary of the Sikh Association Balwinder Singh Chahal updated Premier Berejiklian about the various activities organized by the Association and advised that many of the events and activities are carried out without any help from the Government.

The Issue of Turbans and Helmets was raised
During the meeting, The United Sikhs raised the issue about helmets. Barrister Eesta Sethi requested that Sikh men and women be exempted from wearing a helmet while cycling. Ms Sethi also quoted the examples of other States in relation to the compulsory wearing of helmets for Sikhs. She advised that some States in Australia have granted Sikhs the permission to ride a cycle without a helmet
The Education Director of the Australian Sikh Association Dr Surinder Singh also updated the Premier about the activities and progress being made by the Gurudwara and showed the Premier around the newly furbished Bhai Gurdas library. Dr Surinder Singh added, "In order to better assimilate with the mainstream Australian community he is encouraging Sikh youth to participate in sports like Rugby."
The Premier praised the Gurudwara and the activities of the Sikh Association. She added that the issues raised during the meeting will be considered seriously, and she would try and find a resolution through a proper channel.

The event ended with a donation of a cheque of $10,000 for the drought stricken farmers.
