Mr Morrison used the opportunity to applaud India's efforts in the fight against coronavirus and its work as a Quad member.

The Quad, which includes the United States, India, Australia, and Japan, aims to expand global vaccinations and counter China's growing vaccination diplomacy in Southeast Asia and other parts of the world.

"India is doing a tremendous job whether as part of our new Quad or more broadly around the world making those vaccines which is helping the broader world," Prime Minister Morrison said in a social media post on Saturday.
Mr Morrison said last year pandemic overshadowed the Holi enthusiasm.

"Those difficult days meant that Holi was curtailed in just so many ways," he said.

"While the pandemic will shape much of what we still do.

"This year, we can lift our eyes and look to the future with much greater confidence," Mr Morrison said.
He said Australia is no longer dependent on other countries for its vaccine supply.

''We have got a safe, well-planned, and expert vaccination program rolling out as we speak with Australian manufactured and produced vaccines," Prime Minister Morrison said.

"We are also mindful of the significant changes that are still being faced in countries around the world, including in India," Mr Morrison said.

"We will continue to chart our way forward together.

"That's part of what makes Australia the best place on earth.

"It's that unity that gives us strength to prevail against the most difficult of times. So in that spirit of unity, I wish you all a very Happy Holi," Prime Minister Morrison said.
Opposition and Labor leader Anthony Albanese also greeted the Australian Indian community on Holi.

"I wish great joy to the thousands of Australians of Hindu, Subcontinental, and South Asian heritage, and to everyone celebrating Holi," Mr Alabese said.

"These festivities set the tone for happier times ahead. I wish Happy Holi to all Hindus, and everyone celebrating today and this week."
