A series of abusive tweets were sent out from the handle to its 1.21 million followers.

Indian Congress Party’s Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's verified twitter account was hacked on Wednesday night.

His hacked account tweeted obscene messages that were seen on his timeline before it was rectified.

Congress leader, Randeep Sujrewala confirmed the development and tweeted:

Hours later, Congress Party’s official Twitter Account too appeared to be hacked. Indian news websites reported hackers who took over the @INCIndia account posted a series of tweets, which followed a similar pattern and language from those posted from Rahul Gandhi's hacked account the previous night.
