Receptionist 'sent home for not wearing heels'

London resident, Nicola Thorp has been talk of the town today.

27-year old Nicola Thorp arrived at her workplace, PwC in London, only to be sent home early because she had failed to turn up to work in heels.

She has been told to wear shoes with a "2in to 4in heel".

The British receptionist was told to leave her workplace because she wasn’t wearing the required footwear.

“I said ‘If you can give me a reason as to why wearing flats would impair me to do my job today, then fair enough’, but they couldn’t,” she told BBC Radio London.

She has now started a petition to change the legislation so that women can’t be forced to wear high heels to work. She called the Current formal work dress codes, out-dated and sexist.

While her story has grabbed headlines worldover, her petition has already garnered over 63,000 signatures.
