Saina Nehwal had slammed the Commonwealth Games Federation for denying access to her father Harvir Singh Nehwal at the Gold Coast Games Village.

Sania took to Twitter when her father's name was cut from team official category. She said, "Surprise to see that when we started from India for commonwealth games 2018 my father was confirmed as the team official and I paid the whole amount for that but when we came to the games village ... his name was cut from team official category .. and he can't even stay with me."
"He can't c my matches, and he can't enter the village nor he can meet me in any way... what kind of support is this ..@thecgf," said Saina.
Saina wrote a letter to Indian Olympic Association (IAS) warning she would not play the matches if her father were not accredited.

IOA finally got an official accreditation for Mr Nehwal.

Many people did not like Saina Nehwal's stance and criticised her on twitter.

Indian Olympian and shooter Abhinav Bindra tweeted, “Am sure as a member of the @olympics Athletes committee you are well aware of accreditation protocols. Wishing you all the best for the CWG.”

Another twitter user by the name VandeMatram said, “But why father with u in Games Village? Why at Govt expense? Don’t try to give lame excuses. Even in Rio he should not hv stayed at Games village.”
Virender Rajput said, “With due respect, madam you are playing for India for so long. You are matured enough and have played at so many international events. Don't disrespect the respect, support, praise and honour Indian people have for you.”
Another Indian badminton player and double's specialist Jwala Gutta taunted Saina without taking her name. She tweeted, "Hmmm..my family always paid for tickets n stayed in hotels...I have no idea what’s being promised n what’s the demand?? But for the games when you know dates long before the team leaves..isn’t it better to book n plan in advance? Threatening not play..is it correct??"
However, some supported Saina too. Sports journalist Digvijay Singh said, “Have a different take on the @NSaina issue. Does Jamaica say no to Bolt's entourage at Olympics or Serbia to Djokovic? Mr Nehwal was cleared. He paid as he was asked to. Clearly, someone on @ioaindia goofed up. Accred. cards were made much before Ministry cleared the list.”
