Labeled as the ‘biggest movie star in the world’ by Forbes, Indian Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan delivered his a Ted Talk at TED2017 in Vancouver, Canada on Thursday.
Khan was recently signed by Ted and Star India to host an upcoming television show, TED Talks India: Nayi Soch. This show is reported to launch in later part of 2017.
On Thursday night, Shahrukh delivered a heart-warming talk, reminiscing lessons and thoughts of his life to a packed audience at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Parts of his speech were published in a blog on TED website.
“Humanity is a lot like me,” he said. “It’s an aging movie star, grappling with all the newness around it, wondering whether it got it right in the first place and still trying to find a way to keep on shining regardless.”
Khan spoke about his early days, from the refugee camp in New Delhi where he was born to the night his father died when Khan was only 14.
“From that night onwards, much akin to humanity in its adolescence, I learned the crude tools of survival,” he said.
Vancouver Sun reported the King Khan appeared relaxed and mingled with his fans who approached him in Vancouver, making small talk and taking pictures.
