If you live in Victoria, New South Wales or Tasmania, brace yourself for a crazy Friday and weekend as winds, rain, and snow lash the southeastern part of the country.
Flooding, damaging winds, and storms have sent temperatures plunging in Melbourne and Hobart while some parts of Victoria and New South Wales have witnessed snowfall.
Senior Meteorologist Adam Morgan warns the worst of the weather is still on the way.
In Victoria, Melbourne received more rain than the entire month of April in one morning on Friday.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has warned of damaging winds, averaging 60 to 70 kilometres per hour with peak gusts of 90 to 100 kilometres per hour over the southwest with peak gusts in the Alps around 120 kilometres per hour.
Temperatures dipped in Mt Hotham overnight with the area dusted with snow. Heavy snowfall is expected today.
Snow was recorded in Oberon, Orange and the Blue Mountains in the southern and central ranges of NSW overnight for the first time this year.
Up to 40 centimetres of snow is predicted to fall across the alpine regions until Sunday.
The Bureau has warned of hazardous surf conditions from later this afternoon and evening over Eden, Batemans and Illawarra coasts which will then extend to Sydney, Hunter, Macquarie and Coffs coasts during Saturday.
It has also issued a severe weather warning for Tasmania, including Hobart and Launceston.
Tasmania Police said major roads in the CBD were affected by floodwaters on Thursday night and the wild weather left more than 13,000 people without power.
The record-breaking rain and flash flooding sent cars floating down the streets in Hobart on Thursday night forcing a closure of several roads and 19 schools.
