A team of detectives are hunting a gang of six women in Auckland who punched and repeatedly kicked a Papatoetoe store attendant before fleeing with cigarettes and cash.
CCTV footage of the incident shows two of the offenders closing the store's shutters, while another bashes 25-year-old store attendant Nilam Patel, leaving her with serious facial injuries.
Police say bashing of on an innocent store worker trying to provide for her family is a "truly appalling, disgusting, cowardly attack".
The store was targeted by the mob who began stealing tobacco and money.
Nilam told ONE News said - "I feel unsafe when someone [comes] inside. … My eyes were [in pain], dark bruises, my head, my nose is also still [in pain]."
At the time of the attack Nilam was in shock and “had no idea what to do."
Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin McNaughton told ONE News that police now need the public’s assistance to help identify the group responsible for the "savage attack" on Nilam.
