The Police has established a Strike Force Tintaldra to investigate five armed robberies over a seven-week period at Canley Vale, Fairfield East, North Strathfield, Strathfield, and Wentworthville.
Meanwhile, Anand Singh, a pizza shop worker who was shot by the robber in Wentworthville is recovering in Westmead hospital.
A police spokesman told media, "He underwent a surgery today at Westmead hospital to have some fragments removed from his hand and the other cartridge from his chest."
The police believe that the modus operandi is similar in all these robberies that happened over last few weeks in different areas of Sydney.
Anand Singh was working at a Pizza joint in Wentworthville when the robber attacked. He demanded cash before shooting at 21-year-old Singh and fled on foot. Singh was shot in the chest and hand. He was in critical condition but instead of waiting for the ambulance, he stumbled down to the nearby police station with the help of another co-worker. This short journey was captured on CCTV. His friend could be seen calling for help while helping Singh.
The Police have praised this young man for his endeavor. Granville Police Inspector Matthew Hyde told media, “It’s quite amazing in fact that he was able to walk and seek assistance.”
“He’s an extremely brave young person but from a policing perspective we would encourage people if they are confronted by an armed offender to comply with their demands.”
