On January 11th, India’s Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, came to an aid of an Indian mother who was stranded at Kuala Lumpur with her son’s body.
The mother-son duo was en-route to India from Australia when the son collapsed and died at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.
A twitter user, Ramesh sought help from the foreign minister on Twitter.
Ramesh wrote, “@SushmaSwaraj @MEAIndia – urgent and kind request – one of my close friends & his mom travelled from Australia to India. In Kuala Lumpur International Airport, my friend collapsed suddenly and passed away. My friend’s mom is alone in KLIA and don’t know much to get help.”
The foreign minister replied to the tweet and assured Ramesh that the Indian authorities would help her get back her son's mortal remains to India.
"She should not worry. Indian High Commission officials are reaching the Kuala Lumpur airport. The body will be flown to India at our expense. An official of the Indian High Commission will escort the grieving mother to India," Swaraj tweeted.
She also expressed her grief for the woman's loss.
