He recently became the first Indian spinner to take a hat-trick in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

In September, Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav scored a hat-trick against Australia at the Eden Gardens in Kolkatta, India and became the first Indian spinner to do so in ODIs.

But he once had thought of ending his life.

Yadav, made his Test debut against Australia in Dharamsala earlier this year.

The 22-year-old bowler has also had an impressive stint so far in short limited-overs cricket.

But when he was 13 and not picked in Uttar Pradesh’s Under-15 side he thought of ending his life.

“I had worked hard for my selection, but when I was not picked, I mentioned suicide in frustration. It happens to everyone in the heat of the moment,” Kuldeep was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

He decided to quit the game but success soon knocked on his door.

“I was a meritorious student in school and wanted to play cricket just for fun. I never thought of making it my vocation. In fact, my father wanted me to play cricket and took me to the coach,” Kuldeep shared with audience.

He is currently training in Kanpur and is expected to join Team India for the first two Tests against Sri Lanka which starts on November 16.
