We always knew that tradesmen in Australia are a well-paid brigade. But now a report suggests that tradies earn more than an average lawyer.
National figures from serviceseeking.com.au, show that plumbers top the list of highest-paid tradies costing about $78.40 an hour.
Electricians rank second on the list of tradie occupations and charge up to $74.61 an hour.
In comparison, an average lawyer, charges about $37 an hour, as indicated by salary-guide website Payscale.
Serviceseeking.com.au says that an average tradesman today is charging about $60.88 an hour in Australia.
Within Australia, tradies in NSW command the highest rate (on an average $77.85/hour).
Speaking to Yahoo7, serviceseeking.com.au CEO Jeremy Levitt claims this is due to nature of work tradies do.
Mr Levitt said the work tradies do is considered “difficult and unsavory” and there aren’t many people who want to do this causing the higher demand.
Here’s how much tradies charge/hour these days
- Plumbers - $78.40
- Builders -$60.88
- Carpenters - $58.55
