An Indian-origin doctor Rakesh Chawdry will stand trial on sex charges in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The 62-year-old doctor has been accused of multiple sex charges against his patients.
On Monday, Dr Chawdhry pleaded not guilty to 15 charges of indecent assault and one of unlawful sexual connection before Judge Jane Farish in the Christchurch District Court, stuff.co.nz reports.
Judge Farish has issued heavy suppression orders which mean the testimony of victims have been suppressed till all have finished giving evidence.
Dr Chawdry worked at the Riccarton Clinic in Christchurch as a self-employed contractor where the alleged offending happened between 2011 and 2015.
14 men, aged between 21-38 came forward after local media reported a patient complained to the Medical Council alleging Dr Chawdry was sexually inappropriate towards him during consultation.
Police launched an investigation and Dr Chawdry was arrested in June 2016.
Trial began on Monday where prosecutor Phillipa Norman told the court they will be calling 10 witnesses in this Judge-alone trial, which would include two Indian-educated doctors practising in New Zealand who will testify the nature of the training they received in both countries.
Chawdhry is being represented by top Auckland lawyer Paul Wicks, QC who said his client had "pleaded not guilty to the charges and will be defending them".
The trial is set down for three weeks.
