The Indian skipper on Saturday shared a video on his social media handles where his wife and Bollywood actress Anuskha Sharma is seen confronting and reprimanding a man who littered the street with plastic.
The short video has garnered over 1.32 million views on his Twitter account.
But the cricketer and his actress wife have been criticized online for sharing the video without blurring the man’s face and thus raising privacy and privilege concerns.
While Kohli has over 25 million followers on Twitter and over 22 million on Instagram, Sharma has over 17 million followers on Twitter and 18 million on Instagram.
Many social media users have criticised the couple for this video which has raised a debate around the man's privacy.
“Why are you recording your wife’s heroics and publishing it in social media??.. is this the first time you saw someone threw a plastic cover from a car?? If your intention was to advise him, first be friendly instead of being bossy.. this kinda attention seeking is so cheap,” a Twitter user wrote.
The man was identified as Arhhan Singh who later posted on Instagram, "While I’m apologetic for my carelessness, Mrs Anushka Sharma Kohli a little etiquette and politeness in ur dialogue wouldn’t have made u a lesser star!! There are all kinds of manners and hygiene .. verbal etiquette is one of them!"
But not everyone was critical of star couple's post. A few spoke out in support.
