An Indian bowler, Shiva Singh has sparked off a debate online, after performing a 360-degree spin bowling delivery in India.

Singh is seen rotating 360 degrees in his run-up, just before he delivers the ball.

Instantly, the unimpressed umpire is seen calling it a dead ball.

The incident occurred on the third day of CK Nayudu Trophy (four-day domestic tournament for India’s Under-23 state teams) match between Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, being played in West Bengal.

During the second innings, UP left-arm spinner Shiva Singh, who played the Under-19 World Cup, bowled this bizarre delivery which is being widely discussed in the cricketing world and on the social media.

India’s legendary spin bowler, Bishen Singh tweeted the video and called it ‘weirdo’.
Former England skipper Michael Vaughan seemed impressed and encouraged more bowling innovation.
And there was quite some buzz about it online.
The bowler, Singh said it was not the first time he had bowled like that.

“I use different variations in one-dayers and T20s so I thought of doing the same because the Bengal batsmen were developing a partnership,” Shiva told ESPN Cricinfo.

“The umpires said dead ball, so I asked, “why are you calling it a dead ball?”

“I delivered this 360-degree ball against Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well, where it was fine. Batsman always goes for the reverse-sweep or the switch hit against bowlers. But when bowlers do something like this it’s deemed a dead ball.”
