There has been a big surge in number of NRIs trying to go back to India.
The Economic Times reports leading recruitment and search firms say that the number of requests from Indians in US, UK, the Gulf, Singapore and Hong Kong have increased radically in the past few months.
Monica Agrawal, a senior partner at Korn/Ferry International told ET she has seen a doubling of resumes from overseas Indians over the past year.
“We’ve seen at least half-a-dozen CXO-level placements in the last six-nine months courtesy this trend. Several others are currently work-in-progress. The maximum interest is in analytics, risk and technology,” said Agrawal.
The report suggests that global Indians are returning India in search of better opportunities especially at senior level.
These Indians have been facing challenging situations abroad too.
Companies in countries like UK and US are focusing on hiring local talent which leave few opportunities for talented overseas Indians who can find better opportunities back home.
The opportunity to look after their ageing-parents may be another reason of this reverse brain drain.
Balchandra Variar, senior partner at an executive search firm Transearch told ET, “The willingness of people to come back to India has increased in the last one year or so. We have people writing in, people wanting to come back, including people who have just gone. They believe the action is here in India.”
