The tenth edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) kicks off on August 8th with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who is the chief guest at the Awards night.
Over ten days, over 60 films – ranging from Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati to Marathi among others will be showcased at venues and cinemas across Melbourne.
“This year’s theme is Courage. The movies you’ll see, the people you’ll hear speak and the events that will unfold will all demonstrate the theme in some form. The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne takes pride in bringing together not just the South Asian diaspora but various communities across Melbourne by using films as its medium,” said Mitu Bhowmick Lange, the IFFM Festival Director.
The festival this year will show Hindi films like Gully boy, Andhadhun, Badla, India’s Most Wanted, Mission Mangal and Uri.

The festival has also a contemporary line-up of films from India’s regional cinema. Ahaa Re (Bengali), Bhoga Khirikee (Assamese), Baggage (Kannada), Pariyerum Perumal (Tamil), Ranj (Punjabi, Haryanvi) and Smile Please (Marathi) are among the other Indian language films being shown at the festival.
Film buffs will be able to see Hindi films like Badhaai Ho, Swades, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Sui Dhaaga among others at Melbourne’s iconic Federation Square during the festival.
