33-year-old Tilu Mammen Thomas was at a post office in Dubai to collect his American visa. It was a dream coming true for him but moments before he could receive his passport, he collapsed and died.

Thomas’s relatives told Gulf News he was aspiring to migrate with his family to the US.

He had applied for the US visa and was very happy to receive it.

Thomas was an engineer with a French company.

He had gone to the post office with his wife Seby to collect his passport stamped with the US visa.

He died of cardiac arrest just before he could collect his passport.

He was taken to the hospital. The doctors declared him brought dead.

“On Monday, Tilu had not gone to the office because his stomach was upset after eating food from outside on the previous night. Other than that, he did not have any health issues or any family history of heart attacks,” one relative said.

Thomas hailed from Kerala in India. His body was flown to Pathanamthitta on Wednesday where his last rites will be performed on Friday. He is survived by two children Elizabeth (4) and Gabriel (1).
