Indian classical singer Devaki Pandit, a disciple of Padma Vibhushan Ganasaraswati Kishori Amonkar and Padmashree Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, was recently visiting Australia. In this podcast with SBS Hindi, she walked us through her live concert project 'Advaita' and the limitations of AI in conveying the depth and nuance that only a human voice can convey.
Explaining "Advaita", Pandit said, 'It is a musical journey that celebrates the spiritual path of enlightenment and divine love led by the seven women saint poetesses."

These female saint poetesses are: Andal (Tamil Nadu), Akka Mahadevi (Karnataka), Janabai & Muktabai (Maharashtra), Gangasati (Gujarat), Mirabai (Rajasthan), and Lalleshwari (Kashmir).'They are revered and celebrated for their spiritual wisdom and devotion. They paved the path for all womenfolk to find strength and tread the path of Bhakti, ' added Pandit.

Her Gurus' teachings:
"Singing for varied genres as a vocalist and understanding the ‘bhava’ and 'bhavna' of a sur by not making a raag sound mechanical."
"My gayaki (singing) has, somewhere, evolved from this thought," she further added.
