On July 19, 33-year-old Indian-origin man Saurabh Anand was allegedly attacked with a machete by a group of teenagers near his Melbourne home. Saurabh’s mother, Kiran Anand, learned of the attack through Indian media and arrived in Australia two weeks later. With his work visa nearing expiration, Saurabh hopes for an extension to complete treatment. Victoria will ban machetes state-wide from September 1.
