India and Australia have announced a series of new nuclear, security and defence agreements during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Australia. His first visit to Melbourne city in 12 years received a major welcome, with more than 20,000 people attending a community event. However, a small group of protesters also gathered outside the venue, demonstrating against his visit and raising concerns over his government’s human rights record.
