Australian universities will be required to adopt formal definitions of racism, including antisemitism, Islamophobia and racism against First Nations peoples, under new national standards. The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) says all higher education providers must comply with the new requirements from January 2027. The regulator will also issue guidance to help universities develop clear definitions of racism and implement meaningful measures to address it.
