At least 26 civilians, including several tourists, were killed in Pahalgam, Kashmir, in what is being called the deadliest civilian attack in the region in 25 years. The attack, carried out by suspected militants, has sent shockwaves through communities worldwide, including in Australia. Indian authorities and global leaders—among them Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese —have strongly condemned the violence. In Australia, religious and migrant communities have also responded with profound grief and disbelief.
