In May, the Australian government initiated a parliamentary investigation into diabetes, aiming to gain a comprehensive understanding of this escalating health concern. The inquiry attracted over 400 submissions, one of which highlighted that diabetes now affects 1 in 5 pregnancies. Diabetes during pregnancy has enduring implications for the health of both the mother and the child.
