Experts warn against foodborne illness this holiday season

The Australian Food Safety Information Council is working to ensure that fewer than the average 4.67 million Australians get food poisoning this year, costing the economy around $3 billion annually, with cases typically rising during the busy Christmas–New Year period. With the holiday season in full swing, festive tables are filling up, but so is the risk of foodborne illness. To help Australians enjoy festive meals safely, the Australian Food Safety Information Council has released its top tips, aiming to prevent the over 4.5 million cases of food poisoning that occur each year.
