The Australian government has announced an increase to the Passenger Movement Charge (PMC), raising it from $70 to $80 from January 2027. Often described as a hidden travel cost, the fee is paid by nearly everyone departing Australia, adding an extra expense to overseas trips. The change, introduced in last week’s federal budget, will affect both Australians and international visitors.
