European leaders meet to devise response to escalating US threats over Greenland

European leaders have united against escalating US threats to impose tariffs unless countries support Washington’s bid to take control of Greenland. Following an emergency meeting in Brussels, the EU signalled possible countermeasures amid warnings to transatlantic ties. While the Trump administration cites US security interests, Europe insists Denmark’s NATO membership and collective defence commitments must be respected.
