AFP Commander Airport Operations Morgan Blunden advised passengers to prepare for unexpected things and remain calm.
He asked travellers to plan ahead and ensure plenty of time to get to the airport.
Commander Blunden said their campaign aims to prevent offensive and disruptive behaviour in the air and on the ground.
He mentioned such behaviours can range from verbal abuse or threats to airport or airline staff, both in the airport or on the aeroplane, to physical assaults.
"It can also involve arguments between passengers," Commander Blunden told SBS.
"Sometimes it might just be a verbal threat or an argument, and it might be a disagreement. At the other end of it, it might amount to a criminal assault, which will likely result in the individual being arrested and charged by police," he added.
Commander Blundin advised travellers not to drink beyond their means to avoid any intoxication fuelled incidents.
The AFP said 179 alleged offenders were charged with 248 offences at Canberra, Darwin, Cairns, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth airports between 1 July and 14 December.
